Maybe you have been attending

Mass with a spouse or friend and wondering what it all means. Maybe you grew up around Catholicism and want to understand it more deeply. Maybe you are starting from scratch with no religious background at all.

The Becoming Catholic program at St. Leo the Great is a place to explore that curiosity. It is not a class with a test at the end. It is a guided conversation about faith, God, and the Catholic tradition, open to anyone who wants to learn.

You are not committing to anything by showing up. You are just starting a conversation.

The Becoming Catholic program is also known as OCIA, the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the path through which adults enter the Catholic Church.

The program typically runs from September through Easter and includes weekly gatherings with a small group, a guide, and plenty of room for questions. There's no pressure to continue if it's not right for you.

You will cover the foundations: what Catholics believe, how we pray, and what the sacraments actually mean.

Who Is It For?

The program is open to anyone who is considering becoming Catholic for the first time, baptized in another Christian tradition and interested in entering the Catholic Church, baptized Catholic but never received First Communion or Confirmation, or simply curious and not yet sure what they believe.

You do not need any prior knowledge. You do not need to be certain. You just need to be interested.
